SFI Learns of Bogus Stickers - June, 2001
WARNING! - It has been brought to our attention that individuals have recently printed large quantities of counterfeit SFI Quality Assurance Specification certification labels, and are currently offering them for sale on the Internet. This is clearly ILLEGAL, and could have disastrous effects on the future fitness of safety related motorsports equipment.
The application of counterfeit stickers to a product would instantly VOID any manufacturer certification or warranty and leave the racer or owner of the product exposed to serious personal liability risk. ONLY the original manufacturer of a product, or his designated agent, may recertify products to the applicable SFI specification.
Should you become aware of the availability of counterfeit SFI labels, please notify our office right away. SFI will immediately take criminal and civil legal action against any individuals engaging in such activity.
